A Soul’s Journey of Remembering
Landing in Guatemala, I was immediately whisked off to Atitlan Lake where my Akashic Records retreat was being held. This was where I would meet my teacher, Ernesto, and the group of people with whom I would be spending the next few weeks, and the place where my life would be forever transformed.
I can’t say that anything about Guatemala was familiar to me, not the land, not the people, the artisans, or even the energy of the inner city marketplace where people hocked their wares, but what was familiar to me was Atitlan Lake – the sky, the clouds, and the Lake were part of my soul’s journey of remembering. It wasn’t until later that evening when Ernesto explained the magic of Atitlan Lake that it made sense to me why tears were streaming down my face upon my first encounter.
Known as “the most beautiful lake in the world,” Atitlan Lake was a huge energy vortex where the Mayan civilization had flourished and rumors were that their city had vanished under the water. I loved this notion and it was here, a Mayan Goddess, a healing Shaman and the Mayan Mermaid appeared during my daily swim and introduced themselves. My soul had called me here to the land where magic was real and the veil between this world and the next was very thin… my love affair with magical realism was is in full bloom.
